Will being waitlisted at a college when applying in high school help you if you are trying to transfer into that college (specifically, Wellesley, Wash U, Univ of Chicago)?

Not in so many words. I was waitlisted at UChicago as a senior in high school, and rejected outright applying as a sophomore transfer.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, but chances are that it will become pretty irrelevant; after all, that's comparing your high school transcript with your (improved, I hope) college one.

I was in that very situation. And I have to say, I think it helps. The college will remember that you applied before. Seeing your determination to get there still will be one of those things that tips the balance from "wait-listed" to "accepted". I was wait-listed at Sarah Lawrence College when I applied in high school. I applied again in college, got accepted, and the dean wrote a little note on my acceptance letter that said "welcome back".

what about if you didn't get waitlisted, but got rejected from that same college that you are applying for transfer to? does that still show determination?

colleges keep record of who they waitlist/reject or would you have to make note of it on your app?
