thanks so much! Also, any schools like brown I should look into when transferring? Interested in urban or suburban, liberal arts, med size

Your chance is as good as the next person. What are you interested in studying? And why do you want to leave Smith?

Other schools? With your interests, Tufts and Georgetown spring to mind. Also, have you thought about Macalester college?

I'm interested in Psychology and Spanish. I want to leave Smith for many reasons--I'm not happy here (I just don't think Smith is the place for me fit-wise), I want to go to a larger school further away from home, and the all womens environment isn't exactly my cup of tea (theres more to it though)

thanks for your suggestions

If you're interested in Psych, you should know that Brown's psych department has a reputation for being pretty behaviorally oriented. It's considered a "science" here (as opposed to a "social science," as it is in many other universities). That could be a plus or a minus for you, depending on what areas of psychology you're interested in. I'm taking a fabulous course right now called Introduction to Sleep (which EVERY Brown student should take!) with a professor who's one of the leading researchers in her field. It's basically a biology class. I've also heard great things about some other psych classes, like Abnormal.

The Hispanic Studies department is awesome. There are a lot of really interesting literature classes and some really neat interdisciplinary stuff with other departments.

Thanks for the info! At Smith its considered a science as well...and Intro to Sleep? sounds fabulous...I know this doesnt really go along with this post but how is the social scene at Brown?

There are a lot of other threads about the social life in here if you dig for them... but there's a little bit of everything (well, actually, a lot of everything).
