Transfer to Georgetown or Michigan?!

Help… I’m very indecisive and debating whether to transfer to Michigan or to Georgetown as a sophomore. I’m looking to study communications/political science/journalism but also looking for a place that is accommodating to those going through the transfer process. Any insight helps.

Georgetown all the way. I don’t know about accommodating, but I would argue that you can’t beat the location. IMHO, I wouldn’t want to live in Michigan.

agree with the above - given your interest in poli sci Georgetown is as good as it gets. If you had mentioned STEM Michigan would likely have more opportunities, but given the interests this seems like a no-brainer

Georgetown doesn’t come to mind as a school for communications or journalism. Since you are undecided as to your major, Michigan is the better option since it offers more variety.

Georgetown & Michigan offer very different cultures. It seems as though you prefer Greek life & Vanderbilt, but were waitlisted at Vanderbilt.

To me, Vanderbilt offers a reasonable mix of Michigan & Georgetown.

I would say Georgetown, while journalism and communications may not seem like what is known for the opportunities and classes there are amazing. Also given your interest in ploy sci the college would be a great fit to mix all your interset into one while exploring great internships in DC.

Georgetown also has a ton of support for transfer students, their own transfer floor for housing and a lot of programming and support for them through their years.

Ann Arbor is usually voted one of the best, if not the best, college towns in America.

As Publisher mentions, if you’re looking for a major or changing majors. UMich LSA has at least 40 programs ranked in the Top 10 with many programs just outside the Top 10, like its math and biology programs.
