I was hoping to apply to an Ivy school, but after a bad semester, my GPA has gone down substantially. :/

What are my chances of getting into SMU in Dallas, TX? I am applying as a chemistry major.

I am currently at a regionally-accredited community college.

Major in Chemistry, A.S.
GPA 3.286 (21 credits)
I have not taken the SATs or ACTs.
Volunteer for handicapped riding facility, local hospital
Working for a chiropractor

I am a very good writer, so I'm convinced that I will be able to write a very good admissions essay.

In the fall, I will be taking 18 credits (Biology, Chemistry, English, and Calculus) .. I am striving for straight A's. If I get straight A's, my GPA will go up to a 3.6. I normally get A's, I just had a bad semester. The application is due April 1st. I am guessing I would have to get a midterm grade report. Would they consider the grades from my midterm grade report into my GPA?
