Hello, I'm trying to make a decision right now whether I should stay in CA and try to get into a 4 year university in CA or if I should go back home to Virginia and go to Community College for 2 years and try to transfer/apply to get into a UC from VA. I have lived and worked in Los Angeles, CA for the past 2 years. I recently enrolled in several CC's in the LA area and was told by counselor's I wasn't going to be able to get any of the classes I needed. All of them fill up before I got a chance to enroll in them. I figured I would have an easier time getting classes in a Virginia CC.

Would Transferring from a CC in VA to a UC even be possible? I would like to just apply right now for a UC but I graduated from a highschool in CA in '07 with a 2.7 GPA and a similarly average SAT score so I don't think I would be able to even get in.

As far as the other route of applying to a UC in CA right now if it means anything I have worked in a similar field to what I wish to study for the past 4 years, electrical engineering, so it's not like I got out of high school and have been doing nothing since. I have also graduated from 2 technical schools since as well. Would this be enough to make up for my GPA and SAT score from '07 to get into a UC?

I have money saved up and family financial support to help for school but I have recently lost my job and don't want to linger in CA out of work and not in school.

I would appreciate any helpful information, thank you.
