transfer to uchicago

I am currently a senior at a very competitive high school. My stats are not too great. Next year I am planning on attending either University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign or DePaul University. However, I really want to transfer to UChicago and study economics. I was denied EA at Chicago (which is what I expected). I am determined to work as hard as I can during my senior year in high school and also during my freshman year in college. How hard would it be to transfer? What do I need to do to make this happen? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and by the way here are some of my stats...
ACT- 27 (E-30, M-29, R-24, S-26)
G.P.A.- 4.4/5 (hopefully a 4.5 or 4.6 by the time I graduate)
Rank- barely in the top 50%
E.C.'s- Minority Club, F.I.R.S.T. Robotics, Band (percussionist), earthworks, and a few others

thanks

you go to deerfield hs? of course, one of the most competitive in the state. i don't really know what to tell you, except i'm also curious to find out the answer to your question, just in case the same thing happen ends up happening to me. sorry about u of c... i'm impressed that you're still loyal to it after the ea round. it will pay off, hopefully. best wishes to you.

yeah i go to deerfield, what about you?

my school is not nearly as competitive as yours, that's for sure. unfortunately, i suspect that outsiders were able to hack into my computer, so that my keystrokes are being recorded. it's really freaky, and i don't want to take the chance of putting up private information...i'm sure you can understand. btw, if i could have a first choice, it would be u of c. no doubt about it.

You can do it, but you are going to have to bump up the ACT or take the SAT. I would take the SAT, personally I found it much easier. Also, you need good grades the first semester and great recs.

Show them that you are really interested in ideas. Do some research with a professor, or write an economics paper that is really more than just a paper for class. If you can get involved with the field, it will help. They like people who are involved in intellectual pursuits. That counts more than being just another kid with the grades.

thanks! any other ideas?
