ok so here's my story..
i am a sophomore currently at cal poly slo
i came here because i thought i was going to major in architecture
but after a few quarters i failed classes and was very miserable and still am because there is seriously nothing to do in san luis obipso and i really hate being here.
and so because of that i am trying to transfer to ucr or any other csu's in southern california.
but then the thing is.. my grades are awful. my gpa is only 2.7
but i have good high school gpa (4.2) and my sat is 1990
and i was eligible for local context thing for UCs when i was in high school
but i guess high school stuff don't matter anymore..?

anyways sorry for this long thread...
so my question is do you think there is a chance for me to transfer to ucr or other csu's?
im going to choose some non impacted majors
i think i'll apply for winter 2010. and thinking of applying to ucr for fall 2009 since they're still accepting applications
please give me some advice.. thanks

apply to UCR now, check if any CSU’s have late deadlines in socal. You might be lucy and transfer come FALL. If not, use your time wisely from now till winter and check out CSUs across SOCAL. Then apply.

High school doesn’t matter anymore for transferring except if you would like to transfer to a private institution. And even then at the private institution the high school grades do not play too much of a big factor in the admissions process depending on how many units you have acculmulated. But besides that, UCR should be able to accept you if you were admitted previously. If they don’t a 2.7 GPA doesn’t seem to be a good chance (even though it is UCR) since community college students get high priority along with incoming high school graduates.

How many units have you completed? If you not sure what major you want to do you should just goto a CC for a year. You should try to retake the class you have failed. Also there is nothing to do in riverside.
