Oh dear. . . . Thanks for the tip, psquires. I guess I should start packing my things for Seattle.

I talked to the transfer admissions counselor Erik Castillo today and he said most everyone would hear by mid June. So basically, within the next two weeks. Good luck everybody!!

I got in!!!
goodluck everyone. If your status says committee in review or something they should update it the next day or so.

Congratulations justneedtoknow!

Congrats, justneedtoknow! I’m sure that’s a load off your mind.

I got accepted today, no word about FA though.

congrats!! i didnt get any financial aid yet either. hopefully they didnt run out or atleast i hope they give me a scholarship for diversity.

Congrats! Hey did u guys find out through your portal or in the mail?

I found out yesterday through the portal. I went to check on my status and the page had changed. I looked around and found a “congratulations” somewhere in the bottom left. I got the letter in the mail today.

finally got my acceptance!! Now I have to decide between USD and LMU. Anyone receive a financial aid package yet?

Hey guys, congrats! I was just curious what your guys stats looked like? I’ll be applying for mid-year transfer and was hoping to get a little insight.

Im a business major, applied as a junior with a 3.4 gpa. Around 60 units completed, Calc 2, physics, Stats, all the lower division business courses, etc… 4 Extra curriculars (community service, internship, church, honors club). Im catholic. Good statement. Good Recomendation. Think thats about it!
PS I think that spring admission would be somewhat less competitive or at least fewer applicants. Good Luck!!

Hey, i havent heard back about financial aid yet…

Im a business major. I applied as a junior with a 3.2. lots of church activites. Excellent essay.

3.65, 1890 SATs, 200+ volunteer hours, good essay, mediocre supplement, white female, CA resident.

They had me fill out a separate FA form because they didn’t think my mother’s and my income was high enough for basic living. They’re still reviewing it, so I don’t know when I’ll hear about FA.

Just found out about FA. I got screwed. Badly. “Offered” me a $43,000 PLUS loan.

**** them. I’m going to Seattle.

wait are you sure thats their final offer?
they said that there was an initial offer then another one. keep looking to make sure there arent any flags for more forms. What was your EFC score?

My EFC is 0. I have a ton of flagged forms (they made it sound like I only needed one, I turned that in, then a whole mess of other forms popped up). I asked if the award would change after I turned in the rest of the forms and they said that they wouldn’t know until they reviewed everything – in 3 weeks. I don’t have 3 weeks to sit around and wait for them. For what? The HOPE of more money that might not even make it possible for me to go?

I accepted that I’m not entitled to a free education. USD isn’t giving it to me for free, fine. Seattle is. I’m going to Seattle. It’s not like USD was a priority, anyway. The only good thing about it would have been being able to stay in San Diego with my finacee. Why put in all that extra effort and risk all that time for a school I didn’t really even want to go to?

Sorry to hear that speakingez. Yeah Im an independent student and they havent offered me anything except a couple federal loans(which I would get at any other school). I talked to a couple people at USD and on CC and have recieved conflicting information with regards to whether or not they will give a grant or something once they have evaluated my independent verification form and my federal income tax form…

Justneedtoknow, who told you that there was a first and second offer for FA? Was your award changed or increased once you turned in the flagged forms? My EFC is just over $4000.
Thanks in advance for the info.

Psquires, if you’re still around, thanks for the empathy. I’m sorry that you got into the same craptastic situation. Do you have somewhere else to go or are you stuck paying USD’s pricetag?

ETA: Oh, great, you got into LMU. I hope they treat you well for your FA and in general!
