Transfer w/ disciplinary action... impossible?

I have a very unique story. Front page NYTimes or large lawsuit type story--and one that is extremely messed up.

I do not want to get into any more details because it probably already gives me away. However, basically I was an absolute ROCKSTAR in extracurriculars and academics at one of the best universities in the US and my life completely fell apart (due to an extreme mental illness). During the time that I was extremely mentally ill (which is not in dispute), I had academic disciplinary action taken against me. This led me to seek formal medical help, but I am currently stuck with a disciplinary history that I will have to explain as I try to transfer. My c have said that they will advocate for me since they agree that the whole situation is very, very messed up.

Is it not even worth applying to transfer to Stanford? Is Stanford the type of school that might be willing to admit a student with a very unique story, or are they going to automatically dismiss me if I have any form of academic disciplinary action against me (no matter the circumstances)?

Please enlighten me with “absolute Rockstar”, front page NYT claims through PM. I really want to hear it.

Note: I’m not being sarcastic.

I think the question is will they want to admit you with a mental health background that produced such media attention. You didn’t harm anyone, did you?

Were you the drug dealer at Columbia? Or the DMT maker at Georgetown? Those are the only big scandals that I remember. PM me too!

No. This is not public information, so I will not reveal anything else. (I said that it COULD be a NYTimes front page story, not that it IS.) It is nowhere near as extreme as drug dealing…

My question is whether I should just not apply, but I think I already know the answer. From what I understand, basically Stanford is impossible to get in anyway as a transfer, so maybe this is a unique/compelling story.

HAHA you are very cocky, Rockstar.

I hate u, dapotatoman. not cool son, not cool.

anon2432: You’re question is very hard for people to answer since no one knows the details to your story, which is fine. It’s no ones business. Honestly, if you don’t mind spending the money for the application fee, you should try it. The bottom line is that no one applies to Stanford thinking that they are a ‘shoe in’. With the 8% admission rate last year and I have no idea what it is for transfers, its just not easy. KIds with perfect score are rejected all the time. So its a crap shoot. Thats the bottom line. So apply, you have nothing to lose but the app fee. You will never know unless you try. Good luck…

Thank you for your useful advice everyone. Sorry for capitalizing and using the word rockstar… I merely meant to convey that I fell extremely far, extremely fast so that I could establish context. I may decide to give the application a shot, even though it is obviously a huge reach (like it is for everyone).
