Hi, I attend the Univ. at Albany in my sophomore year in CS major.
As I mentioned in the title, I’ve got a GPA of 3.9 out of 4.0. I’m thinking of transferring to
Stony Brook. But, my old TOEFL score expired and I didn’t take the American SAT but Korean SAT. How do you see the probability of being accepted by Stony Brook with my specification?
Call Stony Brook and ask its admissions office. Since your GPA is so high, a TOEFL score may be a moot point (especially if you’ve taken some writing/literature classes at Albany.)
If you have greater than 24 transferrable credits, looks like you don’t have to submit your HS transcript or SAT https://www.stonybrook.edu/undergraduate-admissions/apply/transfer/
Check on transferability of courses/credits here: https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/advising/_transferinfo/equivalencies/
I agree that you likely don’t need to retake TOEFL, but do reach out to someone in transfer admissions.
From the conversation with a Stony advisor, it seems I don’t need to submit any things below,
TOEFL score(I’ve completed an English Composition class with A- in my current college,
SAT(I’ve got more than 24 transferrable credits),
Essay(She told me it’s not required for transfer applicants.
In a nutshell, the only thing I should do for transferring to SBU is just submitting my application.
Thx for all pieces of advice. I might be thinking of applying for higher colleges, Georgia Tech, Purdue, UIUC, UT, USC and so forth(it’s obvious that I should prepare for all stuff I listed above for transferring to these colleges).
