Well, to make a long story short, I couldn't graduate high school this year because I couldn't attend class for the last two months and due to that I failed all of the classes I was taking, so my GPA dropped to about 2.7, now I'm attending college, but this wasn't my dream school, so I've been thinking about transferring next semester to a better school, so my question is if I take the GED exam, could I put on my common application that my education was interrupted and got a GED? because I don't want them to see my high school transcript. Thanks.

in general, you need to graduate from high school or obtain a GED before you can attend colleges full-time.

I actually am already in college, I don’t know if they are aware that I did not receive a diploma or if they received my final transcript, but what I’m asking is if I could get a GED so that I don’t have to send my transcript to the schools I apply to as a transfer next semester.

Are you sure that you didn’t graduate from high school. I don’t think the college would miss that.

Anyway, if you have 24 or more college credits, your college GPA becomes more important than your high school’s GPA.

P.S. In New York state, they will give you a GED if you earned 24 college credit hours and somehow didn’t graduate from high school.

In my state, if you have completed two years of college and want to complete two more at a different school, you are considered a junior-level transfer and your high school grades don’t count.

I would assume that it’s much the same where you live, but be sure to check each individual school’s policies on transfer. Speak to your counselor about it.

There are some community colleges in New York State are doing this program:
24-Credit GED Program
See an example
[SUNY Orange: Admissions - 24 Credit Hour GED program](http://www.sunyorange.edu/admissions/programs/24-credit.shtml)

I wonder if your state has similar program?

You will have to send your hs transcript to any reputable college you apply to.

@Batllo, Even if I didn’t receive a diploma from them? in any case, which would weigh more the high school transcript or the GED score?
