I am applying as a transfer to WUSTL for Fall 2014, and I have been working on my application over break. WUSTL doesn't have a supplement, so I am guessing my main Common App essay is what they will base of. The thing is, the essay I am writing for Common App is very general, basically talking about my freshman experience, my skills, and why I want to transfer. It's not WUSTL specific. Because the main essay is all I may have to convince WUSTL to accept me (I am applying to other schools, but WUSTL is my top choice), I just want some insight on how other transfers to WUSTL handled this? Any insight in general would be helpful.

Unfortunately I do not know how WUSTL’s decision process or opinion is influenced by having an “general essay”. I’m sure that they know the essay is going to multiple schools and can’t be unique to their institution.

However, and this is just a thought, the CA will allow you to change your essay up to 3 times (You can change it as many times as you want, but are only allowed to submit 3 different versions overall). It would be feasible for you to write a different essay, submit it to WUSTL, and upload the other essay for the rest of your schools.

@arris360 Thanks for bringing that into my attention. I have looked further into common app and discovered what you just said, that I can edit the application again after my first submission. Thanks so much.

couldn’t you just call your AO and ask him or her what to do?
