hello,
Is it normal to transfer to cornell from a suny school after only attending the suny school for jsut one year..?

Yes, why would that matter? You don’t have to wait until you are a junior to transfer. Every year a bunch of sophomores transfer into Cornell as Guaranteed transfers, and even some who aren’t a GT? If you’re sure you want to go to Cornell, transferring in Sophomore year will make a big difference and the adjustment period will go very smoothly. I have some friends who were transfers ( came into Cornell their Junior year) and wish they had transferred a year earlier. Best of luck!

thanks! also what’s GT…?

GT = Guaranteed Transfers. A select few applicants who applied for freshman year (when they were seniors in high school) are given the option to transfer next year into Cornell guaranteed, provided that they fullfill a certain GPA, maintain requirements for their intended majors, and remain in good standing.
