Transfer

I applied Early Action to Case last year and got deferred every step, ultimately not being admitted. I currently attend John Carroll University (a smaller liberal arts school in Cleveland) and am considering trying to reapply as a transfer student. Does anyone have any tips to help me with this process? I have no idea where to even begin. I'm sure all of my credits will transfer, I have B+ up in every class and a lot of AP Credit.

Is it worth transferring? I like John Carroll University a lot but Case still extremely interests me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much!

What are you looking to study? Would Case be a better school for that course of study? Case and Carroll are very very different schools, I would suggest a day visit to Case and sitting in on classes to make sure it’s right for you, it has a very unique atmosphere!

I’m studying biology. Though jcu isn’t a science school as much as case it still has a very strong science program. Is case well known for biology? It seems like they focus a lot more on engineering than the life sciences

Though Case is known for engineering, there are many students in the life sciences, specifically biology and biochemistry. If you think that you might like the atmosphere at case (which I do stress is VERY different than JCU), then definitely come over and hang out here to see if you’d like it, and then apply to transfer. It definitely can’t hurt!

Since you are close by why don’t you make an appointment with the admissions office at CWRU and see if the school is a good fit for you. How are your grades at JCU?

My grades are very good, going into my finals with all As. I hear CWRU has a very tough atmosphere academically, how true is that? And I’m already setting up a visit session to sit in on classes and see what merit aid, etc I’d qualify for. Would you guys mind if I emailed you for more advice if I ever need it?

I would say Case has a very tough atmosphere, you will work very hard for your A’s but you will certainly learn! Definitely do the sit-in and meet with fin-aid and the other offices, also set up a meeting with the head of your department!
