I was admitted to a small (well-ranked) liberal arts school for the class of 2019. I ended up deferring the admission for at least a year because of some health issues. That summer, I received word that I would receive guaranteed sophomore admission at a large, also well-ranked, research university. I have applied, but not heard back from that school. The larger research university is closer to my home and has good medical care very close by. However, I always thought that I would do well at a small liberal arts college. I enjoy smaller environments and getting to know my professors.
I hope to major in biology on the pre-med track. I’m not sure if I’ll apply to medical school, PA School, or another master’s program, though. I’m currently a full-time student at a local community college, but am hoping to transfer for my sophomore year through graduation. What school would be the best for me?
You can get an equally good Biology education in either school and that will leave the path open for Medicine, PA, or graduate school. You CAN get to know your professors at a bigger school but it will take more effort on your part. Bottom line, you have to look at finances and fit as well as any medical pros and cons that there are at the individual schools.
@xraymancs, Thank you!
