I didn’t get into Penn for the fall and will most likely be attending The University of Maryland College Park (unless Villanova unwaitlists me) and was wondering if going to either of these schools and maintaining a high GPA with good ECs would possibly allow me to transfer into Wharton next year.

I realllllllly want to go to Penn and will pretty much just keep going through school until I get in haha (grad school if nothing else)

Any thoughts or anything would be greatly appreciated.

Does Penn give financial aid to international transfers...

What is the usual GPA required to be competitive...

i'd say get a 3.8 or higher in order to be competitive.

in order to get into wharton, make sure you take all the pre-requisites. they're all listed on the transfer admissions website.

good luck! i'm trying to get into penn this year, and i wouldn't want to be anywhere else. it's an amazing school :]

I know I wouldn't want to be anywhere else either. But looks like I'll have to be this year haha

how many ECs do you think I should have?

I started out with 1-2 lowkeys first because I knew that maintaining a high GPA was my first and foremost goal. Then as I begin to feel more comfortable at school, I gradually added on some more. For ECs though, I would say it's a lot more quality over quantity.

thanks for the replies..can anyone tell me if PENN offers finaid to international transfers...

yes penn offers very limited aid for international transfers.

For international transfers, applying for aid greatly reduces one's chances of admission - someone who may otherwise be admitted ( without aid )may be ultimately rejected because he applied for aid.

So, if you're applying for a transfer to Penn, don't apply for aid if you want to get in. This is for international transfer students only.

is it difficult as you say...or impossible as the last line makes it sound like....

also can i transfer to SEAS and pursue a dual degree or minor in Wharton??

I dont think penn provides much aids to international students. as happycosmos said, it does reduce one's chance of being accepted even tho it's need blind

I don't understand...isn't the whole point of "need-blind" that the school admits students regardless of their ability to pay? And this isn't the case with domestic transfers???

is Canadian regarded as international student for fin aid?

nope canadian and mexicans are considered in the regular pool...and the college is needblind towards them

I love how this went from me from New Jersey wondering how to transfer somewhere 20 minutes from my house to overseas financial aid :-P

There are a lot of high school seniors right now posting about future transfer plans because they were denied from their dream schools. I know I was the same last year, but don't put all of your hopes up in transfer. Try to enjoy the school you will attend and if you still feel that you would do better in UPenn, I'd recommend applying again. You have plenty of time to assess your college experience, especially since transfer admissions are processed later than freshmen admissions and just try to enjoy your first year of college. I mean, that's what college is all about!

New Jersey: Don't worry, we hate you too

i was wondering...will wharton more likely to admit a transfer from a liberal arts college or a transfer from a school that offers business if they have similar grades and credentials

They may go for the LAC guy because of the fact that he needs it more....but u never know or can be totally sure of their actions...
