Transfer

I am thinking of applying to Indiana for Fall 2009 after my GPA exceeds the minimum GPA requirement for transfers this Fall. I will be applying from another university instead of a community college so I'm hoping that gives me some sort of advantage. Many people have told me me that earlier is better, but I'm not sure if it would be the right decision even though I know they are right. I know I'll have to submit my high school transcript with the SAT/ACT scores, so I'm just wondering if I have a chance of getting accepted Spring 2009. I didn't really have the best high school record which is why I want to prevent submission of my high school records.

High School-
GPA: 3.2
Top 50%
SAT: 480 (CR), 550 (M), 470 (W), 08 (Essay)
ACT: 18 (Eng), 25 (Math), 18 (Read.), 06 (Wri.), 21 (Comp.)

With the transcript and the SAT/ACT scores, the school will also send my high school graduation test scores, which I don't think matter at all, right?

University-
Overall GPA: 2.06
Fall 2007 GPA: 2.5
Spring 2008 GPA: 1.2
Summer 2008 GPA: 3.35

Yea, I know it's pretty bad, but everything will change this semester since I will be changing a lot of things and working harder. If I maintain a B or B+ average in my classes, my GPA should be between 2.5 and 2.8.

I'm not only asking if I'll be accepted in the Spring 2009, I'm also wondering if my Fall 2008 grades will be looked at by admissions if I send them the transcript by Dec. 20th at the latest? And, when I apply for transfer for Fall 2009, should I submit my Spring 2009 grades as well? Will the shift from my Freshman year to Sophomore year be considered? What about recommendations from professors, will they be considered during the process?

Since I plan on applying to Kelley School of Business if I get accepted, will I be okay or do I need to do something that sets me out from everyone else?

As you can see, I am very confused at this point. The easiest thing for me to do is to send in an application for the Spring semester, but I don't want to if I know there's no point. I'd rather wait and improve my grade point average.

If you guys need some more info., let me know.

Thanks.

you first need to get into Indiana University before the Kelley School of Business... you won't get into the Kelley school of business on your first try.. but I think if you work hard this fall semester and have a GPA anything over your summer 3.3 GPA you have a good shot at getting into IU this spring semester.... and yes they will check your fall semester grades

I heard that Kelley doesn't look at your transfer GPA. During the process, my IU GPA is the only GPA that will be evaluated by Kelley since I have to take the prerequisites for Kelley during the first semester/year, and they are the only classes that matter.
I agree with you, I shouldn't think about Kelley until after I've been accepted by IU.
So, if I do well this Fall, I can submit my transcript with the Fall semester grades in December, and I should be fine, right?

yeah.. i think if you get higher than your summer GPA you should get in... IU likes to see grade improvements.. best of luck

Thanks! I'm sure I'll get a higher GPA this semester.

Kelley won't look at your actual transfer GPA, but they will look at the grades you earned in the classes taken at the other university. Even if you improve when you get to IU, these low grades may hurt you getting in, especially if you're now attending a "good" university. If you're not doing well there, you're probably not going to do any better when you get to IU.

where else are you applying to
