Transfer

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone else is applying to transfer to Smith for Fall 2009. /Also wondering if anyone has any suggestions/stories they want to share. :)

Hey, Travelbook! I got accepted as a transfer, so even though I decided to go elsewhere, I can still probably help a little, I hope!

I would say that, first, you should try to get all of your materials in by the preferred deadline. I know they extend the period until something like May 15, but their spots fill super fast, so if you wait on anything, you could get waitlisted. (I know women who had that happen to them.) Also, they put a lot of emphasis on your essays and recommendations, so be sure those are excellent. And do an interview if you can, because that personal connection can also mean a lot there. Make sure that you show your enthusiasm in the interview and have lots of questions to ask them, because they like to see that type of interest.

Good luck! :)

Never mind! I see that MHC is where you ultimately decided to attend.

Oh, and congratulations on finding a college that better suits you!

Yeah, if you’re looking for a current student, I’m not the one to ask. But for general questions on getting admitted, I can help. It looks like there isn’t an active Smith transfer on the board, so I poke over here once in a while just to see if anyone needs help with application-related questions. :)

MHC2011, that’s very nice of you! Thank you.

I have also applied to Smith and have fallen in love with it since. I have just finished my 2nd year at a junior college in Southern California. I applied somewhat late so I hope that isn’t too much of a strike against me…
Good luck!!! Let me know when you hear back!

anxious

I transferred to Smith this past Fall and, while I was nervous about heading to a completely different place so far from home, it is definitely one of the best decisions I ever made. If you have questions about the transfer process or anything feel free to ask or PM me. :)
