<p>My knowledge of this comes from reading many other discussions already posted on this subject and from the 'Transfer' information area of usc.edu, all because of S who is a freshman in this process right now. Because as a Freshman you don't have enough collegiate experience for the adcoms to measure the probability of your success, your high school record and test scores will play a very large part. But you still need to prove yourself at the college level too. I think that thinking 3.5-3.6 is competive is dangerous and you should aim for that 4.0.
And for the record, S has not heard anything yet. It is/can be a very long wait....</p>
