How easy is it to transfer credits to Rice?

I ask because I go to a charter school in which I take all my classes at a regional uni, and I right now have a rather demanding schedule (22 cred hrs). It would really make me a bit more comfortable with taking on this load if I knew there was a good chance rice'd let me take them over, as I'm starting to think of it as my first choice school.

I've heard rumours of grandseniors transferring 70-80 hrs, but as I'm not in contact with them, nor have my seniors found out what they'll be able to transfer, I'd like to get some first hand info on the ease of getting rice to accept credits from other, perhaps less ahem distinguished uni, especially math and chem courses.

This site has good info on transfer credits.

Apparently, as long as the classes are taken at a four year university (as opposed to a community college), Rice accepts them. If you take them at a CC, Rice may or may not accept them. And FWIW, there is no limit to the amount of transfer and/or AP credit you get.

Awesome!

Would Rice let me start as a sophomore or junior (at least on paper) if I had enough credits? And if so, are there any advantages to this? (I apologize if this is answered in the link you provided, I searched around but couldn't find anything)

Class registration (after your initial fall registration freshman year) is done by order of year, determined by number of credit hours, though not much else that I can think of is. Housing is determined by year you entered college, when applying for things on campus, they ask your graduation year, not what year you theoretically are by number of credits (a lot of people enter Rice with lots of transfer credits but still take 4 years to graduate).
You might be able to satisfy some of your major or graduation requirements, letting you either graduate early or take some extra classes that you wouldn't get to otherwise.
