I am applying to transfer to a UC from santa monica college this semester. UCSB is one of the schools I would consider going to if I get in. But, for the required classes for UCSB, i am missing 2 classes and I do not plan on taking it because I do not have anymore time to. Will I still be able to get in with those classes missing?

Generally this sort of thing depends on a lot of factors, GPA, major, what classes you’re missing, etc. Obviously, if you’re missing important classes that other applicants have, yes, you’re at a disadvantage. Do you still have a chance? I’d say probably, but those classes can hurt you later. If you’re missing lower div classes when you transfer in, you’re going to be a little bit behind and have to play catch up (with UC tuition).

I was missing variously 1-3 courses from the major(s) I applied to when transferring but got into those schools even with the missing courses. This all depends on what major your apply for, but admissions won’t be too hard on the missing coursework.

What is your major? UCSB is pretty lenient on missing pre-reqs but it depends if the major is impacted.
