Can anyone give me some more information about how difficult it is to switch from LAS into business? Thanks!

its very very very very very hard. just go on uiuc.edu and type in business transfer and you'll find all you need. brief overview:
need 60 hrs in progress or done by application deadline. accy 202, econ 203 in progress or done. and many other things.

I got accepted to Liberal Arts & Sciences (undecided) and am not sure if I will end up in the school of business. Here is a link that I found, though, of a pdf file at shows the requirements.

If you cant view it, go to the link below and right click "Intercollegiate Transfer Checklist" and "Save Target As" to your computer to view it.

I hope this helps. Also, If any current U of I students or alumni have transfered into business before, I would very much like to hear more information.

My son transferred last yr from Engineering, which he hated. His first year grades were not good but he wrote really good essays, explained his extremely challenging first year & disappointing grades and had a couple of EC's. A few of his friends did not get in in the spring but did make it in the fall.

what was your sons gpa?

I believe it was 2.7 due to that first year in engineering. I think he had the dubious distinction of being one of the lowest GPA's admitted! I feel his essays helped a lot. He is doing much better now. Summerstars189, what is your GPA?

tennisfan,
Were you referring to the requirements or the competitiveness? Any stats on the number applied and accepted?

well its officially deemed the hardest college to transfer in to. acceptance rate, i think....somewhere aroudn 30% if I can remember. also i was referring to both. it is very competitive and the requirements are tough. You generally need around a 3.5 GPA to be considered, 60 hrs. in progress or done and a lot of classes finished before you can apply.

tennisfan,
Do they publish the transfer stats to business (transfer rate, GPA range) anywhere on the web?

well here's a starter:
http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/future/transfer/requirements.html
http://www.business.uiuc.edu/undergrad/prospective_students/ICT%20before%202007.html
for you guys you might have to use the web site for FAll 2007 or later.
What i heard was from the administrators in the College of Business office. All of them say that it is extremely competitive and they only accept so many. I do know they said that of all the applicants, they accept at least 10% of studetns from other colleges.

for everyone whose going to be a freshmen next year, we have different requirements for transferring into business..

what's the requirements if u want to transfer from ACES to Business? If anyone's got a link they can pull up, that'd be great. Just something I'm thinkin of in the back of my mind. All I know is it can't be done till Junior year.
