Transfering from University of Pittsburgh to Clemson

Hello,
I had a couple questions on the likelihood of my acceptance and general Clemson things. First, I had a 3.4 in a great public high school and scored a 1940 on the SAT’s, I applied to Clemson during my senior year and got wait list accepted. However by the time I got accepted I had already committed to PITT. I now want to transfer seeing as how Clemson is a better fit for me. I had a 2.54 in my first semester here and was in the Engineering school so I was not taking any easy classes. How likely is it that I can transfer into Clemson Engineering? Also, contingent on my acceptance, what is Clemson life like? I just want a basic understanding of general campus atmosphere and night life. Lastly, if I were to get in whats the best option for housing if I dont want to be in an Living learing comunity? Id prefer apartment sytle but I also want suggestions for normal dorms.

Thanks!

Why are you leaving Pitt - do you prefer rural vs urban?

I copied pasted from their website the requirements for the engineering program:

http://www.clemson.edu/ces/departments/ge/advising/prospective-students/transfer-faq.html

You’ll need to complete 30 semester or 45 quarter hours and earn a cumulative grade point ratio (GPR) of at least a 2.7 to be admitted into the General Engineering program. The minimum level for acceptance to the university is a 2.5. To move from General Engineering into some engineering majors, you may have to earn a higher grade point ratio. Check your intended department’s requirements.

I can’t tell you how clemson life is but go to clemson reddit and ask the people on there are very helpful and honest.
Alot, people recommend off campus housing but it depends on you finances. Most transfer students live in Calhoun Courts which is apartment style on campus housing . But it is 4 people sharing one bedroom.
There is more info here at this link:

Also, as a reminder Clemson does not offer scholarships to transfer students until after one semester. Then the scholarships are very competitive and I was told you need 3.9 by financial aid representative at Clemson. I don’t know if money is a factor for you but if it is please be aware of this as a out of state student.

I really like pitt its a great school and i have nothing against it at all but I just think i made the wrong choice for what i want. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a city school though.
