is anyone else transfering out after their first year?

Well, most of us can't tell you just yet. We haven't even spent a quarter at UCSD. I'm hoping I'll like it so I don't have to go through that dreadful application process again. I'm lazy. :)

You've already transferred right? Mind telling us where and why?

ucla- i found the school depressing and unorganized
but the majority of my friends stayed, so there is certainly hope that you guys will like it.
good luck!

clairesolo: Just curious, what are you looking for at UCLA that UCSD lacks? What do you expect?

how is it possible to transfer out after 1 year? i thought they only accepted junior level transfers.

this is bad news for me ....

clairesolo - how many units did you complete at ucsd / other colleges?

students who are more well rounded and a more well rounded school in general

i completed 48 and had 40 from ap classes. to get in i wrote a letter in july and they admitted me

i see, thats why

congrats on getting into ucla!

you just wrote a letter? no application?

and in the letter you just talked about how ucsd didn't fit you and ucla let you in?

What do you mean "well rounded" students? Just curious as it's such an umbrella term and all.

the people i met really just cared about school, no one would want to do anything or explore la jolla or the city

for those you going into ucsd, go greek or join lots of clubs, its the only way to meet people.

Thanks... I was kinda worried about that, coming from out of state and all

or you can go to bars and clubs if you're of age

and you can rush for a week just for the parties and events if you don't want to actually JOIN

wow.. at least spend some time here.

no well-rounded students? have you talked to the ones who are? what does it matter if there isn't a lot of them?

ehh, after spending one year at UCSD, there's no way in hell I would ever consider transferring out anywhere else, I simply love it here too much.

ditto jv1122. in fact, there is so much i wanna do at ucsd that i sometimes do some real thinking to set my priorities straight...sometiems theres so much im getting into that im scared my academic life will take a turn for the worse.

things i ponder about frequently for example: should i go greek (social) or the business frat? Do i wanna minor in econ in addition to my major and current minor, study abroad more than once. clubs i wanna be involved in? how to fit in and continue my gym/exercise time, research, become an OL/campus tour guide?

...after my first year i already hold officer positions in pretty significant student orgs, volunteered at a hospital, met some pretty great people (who ARE well rounded..gasp* surprise surprise!), buffed up (LOL), dated, gone clubbing at TJ, etc...seriously! so much to do on top of doing well in school that i dont get how ppl CANT find their niche at ucsd. i think ppl who cant and wanna transfer arent trying hard enough. you know, its not everytime that you WILL get the opportunity to get out of something you dont like. sometimes you have to make the best of what youre given and learn how to deal wit it. Im not saying i made the most of my time here, but im satisfied as of now

oh and i find it funny how clairesolo went on this very forum and said stuff along the lines of "i dont know if i will like ucsd cus its boring" and then when school started,"im so in love with ucsd now!" and after a year she puts up a thread about transferring and if ppl feel the same way as her. dont be a party pooper please? happy thoughts.

^ woah I just saw her past threads.. Man, claire what is it with you? One second you hate UCSD then the other you love it then the next you hate it again.
