Hello, I am currently a CC student about to get an Associates degree for transfer (ADT) for psychology and Im applying to cal poly pomona and cal state fullerton for fall 2019. I currently have a 2.36 gpa… but I currently have all A’s in my classes this semester and hoping it would bump my gpa. I also have two more classes to take in the spring. I also read about “local transfers” how people who are attending a local CC near a csu campus get priority if they are applying for a major that’s not impacted (cal poly is the school I’m closest to.) I would like some insight on how my chances on getting accepted are???
If you attend either Citrus College and Mt Sac then you are considered local and get local preference for CPP. What CC do you attend?
https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/freshman/documents/csulocaladmission-serviceareas.pdf
Based on the information I have linked below, Average CSU transfer GPA for CPP was 3.14.
Average Transfer GPA for CSUF was 3.21 and non-local needed a 3.40+ for an acceptance. Even locals for CSUF needed a 2.75+ for an acceptance.
I think your chances are not good for either school but CPP does not list their local vs non-local GPA for admitted transfers just overall average.
What does your CC advisor say about your chances?
I suggest you apply to one of the non-impacted campuses such as Dominguez Hills, Bakersfield. Channel Islands, Stanislaus or San Francisco as a backup.
I’m at citrus and my counselor didn’t really say anything specific he just said he’s seen people get accepted with a low gpa… I should talk to him again. I wanted to keep it sorta local I don’t to dorm/apartment or drive to far
I’m taking 15 units right now and currently have A’s in all of them so I was hoping my gpa would go up
I would like to also add that on cal polys website it says that people who have the bare minimum and has declared a non impacted major will be admitted and psychology isn’t impacted according to their website
CP SLO is really unlikely.
The non-impacted CSUs (and for your major) should be the focus of your aps.
https://www2.calstate.edu/attend/degrees-certificates-credentials/Pages/impacted-degrees.aspx
that link is always current impact ion status at all 23 CSUs
ADT gives you a guarantee of admission at a CSU campus but it may not be your choice campus. You do get local preference and priority at CPP but not a guaranteed admission.
