I applied for NYU Tisch for Film for 2012 Fall, and I got waitlisted, but in the end I did not make it in. I'm planning to transfer from SUNY Potsdam, but I have two concerns.

Firstly, I read that the strength of your college or program you're transferring from is relatively important. How important is it really, and would Potsdam not be enough to stand out?

Also, if I were to go to Potsdam I'd have to major in creative writing and minor in Film Studies. Would I HAVE to major in Film in my previous school to transfer to NYU Tisch for Film?
