Does anyone know how difficult it is to transfer to Steinhardt? What's the general GPA requirement and what materials are required (I know, I need to do more research).

I'm currently a sophomore at Rutgers University. I'm probably applying to transfer for either the Fall 2010 semester or Spring 2011. I'm expecting that when I transfer to whatever school in general, I will be required to stay an extra year (I am fine with that)

How is the transferring process in general? Anyone a transfer? What were your stats?

I think missamericanpie will answer your question very soon. She successfully transferred to NYU. I’m also applying to Steinhardt as a transfer and she chanced me. Steinhardt wants to see whether or not you fit into their problem, so the essay and reccs are VERY important. GPA should be at least a 3.5 to be competitive and be involved in clubs. NYU, in general, loves leadership.

Yeah, ak pretty much hit the nail on the head. I had a 3.45 when I transferred to Steinhardt, but I had a pretty extensive resume to back it up. If you’re applying to a Steinhardt program that does not require a portfolio, they are looking for fit and for great essays.
