So i am a college freshman at the UMass in amherst and i want to transfer to Steinhardt as a psychology major. i have a total of 21 credits because i took two AP's senior year of high school and am taking another 18 credits next semester (non of which are ******** time fillers) . i want to enroll for the fall of 08, but am concerned that i wont get in.

in high school i had a 3.2 gpa and a 1600 on my SAT's i knew i didnt have a chance at NYU so i went to umass. i hate it here and want to be back at home in the city. in college i have taken very serious classes and have A's in four and an 86 in econ ( the death of me) because the semester has not finished i dont have my final gpa but i expect it to be around a 3.5 .

i know NYU is really competative and accepts around a 3.7 but i have a lot of EC from high school and have maintained this in college.

Well I got in as a transfer with a 3.5 and great letters of recommendation and a good essay and EC's. You have a shot at Steinhardt if you REALLY express interest and it shows that you've done your homework on NYU and your program of application.

For example, if you're doing music business, talk about the record company thats available as an extracurricular activity and express interest in participating. Just check the website for your anticipated major and do your homework. If the program has a great study abroad program somewhere, talk about wanting to do it. They want to know you're interested in the program and that you'll want to go, and makes sure that your essays reflect that. Also, I'm pretty sure that almost all of Steinhardt's programs don't allow for an interview, unless you're talking about an audition. I could be wrong though.
