I was recently rejected by UCLA, which was my top choice. If I finish the required GE courses at UCSD in 1 year, can I still go to UCLA as a sophomore next year? I am major in Biology btw.

no…

you gotta be a sophomore and transfer in to UCLA to start your junior year.
whether you’re a freshman/sophomore/junior is determined by the number of units you’ve completed so if you got all of your sophomore units done (somehow) by the end of your 1st year then you could transfer in to ucla after your first year.

…but rumor has it that you are last priority if you’re already at a 4 year (especially one similar as far as the UC system goes).

no, ucla gives priority to community colleges and other uc campuses.

I’ve always been under the impression that UCSD’s biology program is “higher ranked” than UCLA’s

if you complete 90 units at the spring before transfer you can apply to transfer. the only way to do this is to have ap units or community college credit to boost your unit total at ucsd. Just complete the courses that count as ge credit for both ucsd and ucla, and complete your biology, chem, phys, or math courses and make sure all your courses transfer over. it is possible but depends if you can meet those 90 units, and also you get the same registration as others since you’re transferring from uc to uc, so your uc gpa and uc units will transfer over so depending on your ap credit and how many units you completed at ucsd, you might have a better registration date then someone here when you transfer

look up more information on the internet about this, it is possible and you can always apply and see what happens, you won’t lose anything and a lot of people apply to transfer and have a good shot, but usually in two years because one year is a lot to get a good gpa cram courses in

thefrencharmy: i thought both schools are equally ranked in bio… i wanna go to UCLA because i look the campus and outside environment more at UCLA

So lets say if i someone manage to get the 90 units by next spring, when should/could I apply as a transfer to UCLA? Does UCLA accept any application besides November?

“like” sorry for the typo
