Transfering to ucla/ucsd/ucd? Santa cruz vs Merced?

Does anyone know anyone that transferred to one of the said schools? What's was their GPA? Is it difficult to attain this gpa compared to schools like uc merced? I'm deciding between this school and uc merced, i've heard with a 3.5 you can transfer to uc la (from uc merced), and since its a new school the work load is much less, but I feel ucsc is more for me. Anyone know anything about the two?

Go with UCSC. You will have a better experience. It will also serve as a good place to transfer from. The same GPA at UCSC will do you better than the same GPA at Merced. UCSC is a BEAUTIFUL campus, nationally ranked, close to the ocean, and just a bus ride from downtown Santa Cruz which is a great fun place (I've been in the area a couple of times).

And, you will meet people like me there, who also want to transfer to UCLA/CAL in two years. What college are you thinking about? Maybe we'll see each other there. BTW, the work load may be less, but in general, UCSC should be as easy if not easier than high school. It will prepare you more for transfering to a hard university.

I'm thinking about college 8-10. I like things clean, i'm not into the emos, rap, and i like to do things in moderation (drugs/party). I am interested in computer stuff, and business, im not really a science/math type of guy though. Do you think the said college is appropiate for me?

Go to UCSC. If the workload really is less, you won't do yourself any favors by taking it easy, once you transfer and need to compete with the students at UCLA.

This link will give you an idea of what the different colleges offer. If you got your packet, you'll see that college 8 is way far away from everything so you'll need to take a bus to class, which is annoying. 9 and 10 are more central campus. I have just heard that alot of lame people stay at college 9 and 10 just because they are newer. I am thinking about Merril as they have alot of nice services.
