I am trying to transfer to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus. Should i apply for mid sophomore year winter semester or apply for fall of my junior year for my best chance? (or does it not matter) I want to know if i stand a chance on being accepted let me know what you think.
Both of my parents and my sister are Umich Alumni so take that into consideration also.

Right now at Oakland University:
3.75 GPA in Business Admin.
Honors Society at Oakland, Business Frat and Financial Management Association.
By the time i finish my sophomore year whether i transfer or not i will have 70 credits all will transfer over
I am going to take 8 credits in summer.

High-School Credentials:
2.998 GPA (top 10 public high-school in MI)
21 Act Score
My senior year dropped my high-school GPA from a 3.1GPA to the final 2.998 GPA i received.

I am totally aware my high-school credentials will possibly turn the fate of my acceptance.

I'm applying to LSA and hoping to double major Poly-sci/history or Econ major.
This is my dream school.
Don't sugar coat it, you can be honest as you think you need to be.
Feel free to give me feedback or advice, i really am interested and highly motivated in my academics being in college now.

Would it be worth re-taking the ACT????? is that allowed?

Do you have extracurriculars?? Also if you have a valid reason why your GPA dropped in your senior year you should put it on your essays, so they know. But to be honest it is still low. Your college GPA is good, so you might wanna keep up with it, so they know you’ve actually make improvements since high school, and not going backwards. I think activities are necessary, and as far as your SAT I’m not sure what to tell you. Best of lucks!

You definitely should not take the ACT again! If UMich asks for your scores on the transfer application, they are looking for your high school scores. It is not worth your time to take the ACT again. Transfer applications look most specifically at your college GPA, which is excellent! Think about it - the standardized tests from high school are used to gauge future collegiate success. IF you have EXCEEDED those scores by doing well in your studies, you have proved your ability to handle college-level work!

Have you looked at transfer deadlines? Your decision about mid-sophomore or fall of junior year will depend on where you are in the process. WRITE GOOD ESSAYS. Don’t belabor your high school record…it is what it is. You are successful now (and already have good college extracurriculars), so focus on that!

Once you have ~60 credits or so, high school grades aren’t really taken into consideration. You still have to report them, but at that point your college grades are the only ones that matter.

I called them and I CANNOT retake the ACT. But I am going to apply both terms hopefully they let me in the second time. By then I will have 60+credits
