I started at Rutgers U for pre-pharm then transferred out west for mine engineering. I thought I would be able to handle it at a Tech school but the school just isn't for me. I missed thanksgiving away from my family and friends and I just can't handle it. I'm starting to get frustrated and depressed plus it's hard on my parents to pay for my travel expenses. It's cheaper for me but not for them, I don't think that's fair.

SO basically I went into college unsure of what I wanted to do then I found out what I liked, transferred away, but now I decided im too far from my family and it cost too much to travel. So now I am transferring back. Is that bad?!

My question is: How will it look if I transfer back? I would have to change my major again to Geology+ gen. engineering which would give me a geology engineering type degree (very related to mining, but I might graduate a semester or two late). Any advice?

I don’t see a problem with transferring back. It’s understandable why, and you don’t want to be stuck at a school you don’t enjoy. I do have to say that I would assume getting a degree in your field of study would be best out west just because of the amount of mining that has been done out West. If your university has a good program for your degree, I don’t see a problem in it at all, though.

Also I don’t think it would look bad. If a future employer asks, you can keep it simply to financial reasons, as I know many many people who go back home because going OOS is hard on your wallet.

Thanks ^. Im gonna give it a go. This next semester I really am going to try to like it here. I am trying out for the soccer team and I am taking more credits so maybe I will be numb to my environment if I stay busy. Also, I don’t think its considered transferring if I just re-enroll at Rutgers. I will still only have 2 transcripts right?
