Transferring as a Junior, but Want Sophomore Standing

I am going to apply as a transfer from a CCC as junior in 2013. I am wondering if it is possible for a junior transfer to get a sophomore standing upon request?

Why and what for? It doesn’t sound possible. When I received an acceptance letter from CSU Fresno I had “senior” standing. I still had to take two years of coursework, however.

This is an odd request. My best advice would be to call your prospective school(s) to see if this is even a possibility.

Seconding the why, as you can only benefit from junior standing. At my school, sophomores were the last to schedule courses, then regular freshmen, then juniors, and seniors were first (after incoming freshmen with entrance scholarships). Though you might not benefit as a transfer student this year, you’ll benefit in the next year or two to come.

That doesn’t make sense dude. It all depends on how many credit hours you have. You need less than a certain amount of credit hours to not be considered a junior. If that’s what you want, then don’t take so many at the place you’re transferring from.

Some colleges I am looking at have these special programs and I can’t use them if I am there for only two

Then you should ask them if you can enter those programs despite having junior status. It’s very possible that as a transfer, you may take more than two years to complete your requirements in order to graduate.

I will thanks!
