<p>I'm a Florida senior, accepted EA to the College (I projected a Spanish major in the FLL with a pre-med concentration, Doctors Without Borders goal, etc. etc). I've been thinking about transferring to the NHS for the International Health major (the internships are so cool!!). Would this be difficult, and is it suggested? Any suggestions on the best path if I'm interested in both medicine and policy (with a hint of linguistics?)?

<p>the standing policy is that you enter within the program you applied to. you can apply to transfer schools in the spring of your first year. i have, however, heard of students who transferred before they entered so it's up to you to decide how serious you are about ihealth.</p>
<p>remember that there are innumerable ways to get to the same place. also, it's definitely possible to major in spanish, be pre-med, get a certificate (minor) in ihealth, and take some cool linguistics courses.</p>
<p>in short, i'd ride it our for a year before you override your decision. you'll learn a lot about your goals in your first year.</p>
<p>if you want the internships (especially the research abroad internship), you'll have to transfer to NHS. a number of students transfer between schools. I personally transferred from the College to NHS the summer before sophomore year. Just wait a year, see what you really like. You can take one or two NHS classes during your freshman year to see if it's what you want to do. I took Healthcare in America and Language of Health and Disease my freshman yr. Not i-health classes, but they got me interested in NHS. You should be able to take at least Intro to International Health.</p>
