I have applied to 4 SUNY schools so far. UB, Albany, Binghamton, and Stony Brook. I submitted my application around the end of January and so far I have only heard back from Binghamton. I have been accepted to Binghamton and that's most likely where I'm going to go.

yeah so far i heard back from stony brook and University of Iowa accepted to both
for stony brook just log into the solar system and it should tell you when you check your application status

Well, bing really wasn’t my first choice until a month ago. I originally wanted to go to UB or Albany because I planned to major in business. I’ve heard so much great things about UB, so I definitely want to know whether I’m accepted, visit the school and then make my final decision.

I spent a whole week navigating the school website and downloaded the app. Whenever I had free time I would just go through links and read about the school. Obviously bing is known to be academically competitive, but the alumni I’ve spoken to all raved about the social life as well. I think that bing has a great balance of academics and social life.
I think you should apply to bing since you were accepted into stony brook.

But it’s true that the anxiety is overwhelming. I don’t necessarily have a promising history, though I have excelled in the college I’m at now. I get very anxious thinking about whether or not I’ve done a good job writing all of the essays and expressing my want for (real) higher education.

Where is everyone transferring from? I’m coming from a community college.
Right now I have a 3.89 GPA, but I am a high school drop out/GED recipient.

I’ve already been accepted to Drexel (I was eligible for the fast transfer app since I’m in PTK), but I’m still waiting to hear from USC, Vanderbilt, Cornell, Northwestern, and UMich. I’m sure I’ll be waiting until April-May for most schools, but I think USC might make earlier decisions (like possibly within this month)?

I am transferring from a community college as well. I’m going to be graduating with an AA degree and I currently have 3.95 GPA.

Recently some people have been telling me that many colleges give priority to transfer students who complete an associate’s degree. Does anyone know if this is true?

You’ll have to check the transfer destination school’s policy and/or find a statewide policy (like in Maryland) if it’s a public institution. Even if there is no official policy, the common sense reason is that finishing your associate’s implies you have a certain level of maturity, organization, and follow through. Thus you are more likely to successfully complete your bachelor’s degree than someone who hasn’t finished their two year degree. That’s why it should be somewhere on your application/essay that says (I will complete my AA by x date), because most of the time people don’t actually have their degree in hand at the time they fill out the application.

I’m a transfer student and I applied to Stony brook as well. I’m in my 2nd semster right now so I’m not sure how exactly that would effect my admissions. Please keep me updated with all of your statuses with your apps
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE

I was just rejected from the University of Michigan. 3.83 GPA, 30 ACT, plus I’m a Michigan native (although I go to school out of the state). I really thought I had a pretty good chance.
