Transferring freshmen year vs. sophomore year? Difference?

Hello, I’m currently attending my first semester at Baruch College and I’ve been thinking of transferring to a school with a better name such as Umich or Gtown or other schools like those. I know I can’t apply to transfer freshmen year because Baruch doesn’t offer the flexibility to complete all the requirements in the first year needed but I can definitely finish the required transfer class by the end of my 3rd semester.

Question: What is the difference between applying for transfer during your freshmen year and applying for transfer your sophomore year and entering school as a junior? Will applying sophomore year decrease my chances? I’m getting mixed answers about freshmen and sophmore transfers so I just wanted to clear things up for myself.

Some schools don’t accept freshman transfers. The closer you are to HS the more schools will also take into account your HS record. Usually after two years of college most schools will only look at college info. Google Common Data Set {college name} and then look at section D to see what they use for transfer admissions.
