Hey guys, I'm thinking of transferring to Cal Poly Pomona next year from a CSU that I'm attending right now. Has anyone done that before? Was it hard? I heard it's not that hard to transfer within the CSU system, is that true? Thanks!

I would start talking to transfer counselors and get more updated and pinpointed information. Most CSUs are impacted and they are mandated to take transfer students from CCCs before all other types of transfers. Because demand is so high and space is limited, those CCC students are filling up most if not all those transfer spots. Additionally, the CSUs take from their local CCC pool of applicants first before CCC students from other parts of the state.

Because you are low on the transfer priority list (a CSU to CSU transfer), you need to talk directly to both CSUs to get the real scoop and get specific info for Pomona. Find out their gpa cut off for transfers last year. Find out if they are taking CSU to CSU transfers and if so, where they are on the priority list. The admins can’t tell you if you specifically will get in but they should be able to tell you gpa cutoffs for your major, if you are bound by the same rules as CCC students (upper div transfers only, golden 4 classes finished, etc).

thanks for your reply!

The major I’m applying to isn’t impacted at Cal Poly Pomona (Nutrition), and I’ve asked what are the requirements to transfer, they just told me the golden 4 classes eg eng, math, communications and critical thinking classes.
