Transferring from UCR to Cal Poly Pomona?

I'm a mechanical engineer at UC Riverside right now and I was wondering if transferring to Cal Poly Pomona would be plausible? The main reason for the transfer is mainly financial because it's around an $8,000 difference for tuition. I was just wondering if it's easy to do since I don't know too many of these cases.

It is rare for a student to attempt to transfer directly from a UC to a CSU. The UCs accept very few transfers from CSUs since they have to give highest priority to CCC transfers and then transfers from other UCs. The CSUs are also required to give CCC transfer applicants priority over applicants from other four year colleges and universities. I am not sure if CSUs also have a policy of giving some priority to transfer applicants from other CSUs over non-CSU four year schools. If that is the case it might make transferring to Cal Poly SLO from a UC extremely difficult.

Cal Poly SLO is the most competitive CSU and the entire school is considered impacted. Given how competitive admission to Cal Poly SLO is, the certainty that CCC transfers would have priority over you and the likelihood that transfer applicants from other CSUs would also have priority, you would probably need a GPA of at least 3.8 at UC Riverside to have any chance of transferring to Cal Poly SLO.

I think the OP was asking about the Pomona campus, not the SLO campus.

Yea I was wondering about Cal Poly Pomona not SLO. I applied to both and I know I can’t get into SLO but I got into Pomona though I know it doesn’t affect my situation here.

I was planning on trying to transfer to Cal Poly Pomona’s summer quarter because the applications are opened this February. I was just wondering if it’s extremely hard or near impossible to do a UC -> Cal Poly Pomona transfer because I don’t know any cases like this. Any info would be helpful.

@ DIsjunktion: well I have an acquintance that somehow is in the similar situation. He was attending UCR as well(not sure what was his major at UCR) but for numerous numerous reasons had to attend to a CC.Now he is hoping to get into Cal Poly Pomona fpr Spring semester. What he has told me is that is quite difficult because he is at a CC but has a record at UCR that sort of not benefit him because because his grades at UCR are not as stellar. But because is at an CC, they might give him a “sorta” of a chance to get in.
