Hey guys, I am new to this site and I wanted to get some advice on transferring!
I’m currently a freshman at a CSU, and I really am not happy. I went here because my parents wanted me to go straight to a 4 year while staying close to home, but I realize the school culture isn’t for me and I don’t feel challenged much. I am finishing up this year (doing lower division general ed) and I want to transfer to Mt. Sac, a CCC. I feel like I would be happier with the option to save more money and have more time to rethink what 4 year uni I’d like to transfer to, such as a UC or Azusa Pacific. Is this doable or am I too late? I took in 2 loans with my school for 2017-2018 and I signed up for my classes next semester, so i’m afraid about the low chances it will work. Thanks.
It is not too late! You can take a leave of absence from your CSU now and enroll in your CC whenever.
From there you can meet with a counselor at your CC to see what credits transfer over and what makes sense to do for your goals.
You’re making the right decision. Trust me. I just went from a CSU to a CCC and now I’ll be at UCSC in the fall.
You can still make it happen.
i presume your parents wanted you local so you could save money by living at home. Is there a UC that’s a commutable distance? Also, Azusa is really expensive…and most privates give the bulk of their aid to incoming freshman, so it is probably not a reasonable target.
