I currently attend Baruch College as a freshman, and I am dorming which is rare for Baruch. I love the people I’ve met and the city is great as well. I attended here because I got into the honors program (Not Maccaulay, Baruch Scholars) and I got a scholarship (which doesn’t even apply because my financial aid is greater than it) and a free laptop.
My issue with this school is the lack of music programs it has. I’m going for Management of Musical Enterprises, and most of the classes regarding music are not going to increase my knowledge of music besides Harmony 1. A lot of them are about history and such and there is actually a very limited amount of classes they offer. I’m not even sure if I want to go into the business aspect of music anymore or something else (music psychology, music tech, etc…). Or even just major in music and something else that interests me.
There is also a lack of extracurriculars and performance groups regarding music, and I really want to get involved but there’s not much I have an interest in.
I’m strongly contemplating transferring next year. I’m going to take classes next semester here to make sure I want to transfer, and I’m trying to take a few music classes to actually assure myself music is what I want.
I originally applied also to Binghamton and UAlbany, which I loved both of. Binghamton gave me almost full financial aid and UAlbany gave me quite a bit as well. I believe I could get the financial aid again at least for the coming year since I will be in the same financial situations. I am thinking about reapplying to both, and adding City College to the mix after I visit it, since I have no seen it yet. I was at UAlbany last week and I love it, I love the campus feel and all of the extracurricular opportunities. And I loved Binghamton.
Are these schools going to be a good choice for what I’m looking for or am I going to find myself in the same place next Semptember? Please give any advice possible. Thanks.
