Transferring from Brown to USC?

I am a freshman at Brown, but I really don't like it here and I want to transfer to USC as soon as possible. What are my chances of getting accepted to USC? Any tips on what I should do?

just tell them you go to Brown. It’s USC…

B is a more selective school than USC for both fr and transfer admissions. So as long as you do well this year at B you should be in relatively good shape. See the sticky thread at the top of this forum for transfer tips: Transfer Admissions 101.

These are very different schools, I hope you’re not overcompensating for whatever you don’t like about B.

Too bad we can’t just ask them to let us switch our spots, lol. I’m currently AT USC and considering Brown.

What about USC is making you consider transferring?

This should be easy, USC takes tons of transfers.

dang u want usc for brown, that’s nuts… lol

Well, compared to Brown, USC is more of a party school (though Brown is known for some crazy parties too), it’s definitely more centered around sports (football/basketball), and it’s not an Ivy League university (need I elaborate?). But, Ivy Leagues aren’t for everyone, and you can succeed at any university (almost).

this is what you gotta do.
keep a high GPA, get to personally know a few professors so that you could ask them for a rec. letter later, try to build on your college experience (join clubs and organizations- this will help you tell USC or other schools that you’re applying to, that you’re do as well there, etc…
although USC takes a great many transfers, a large proportion of them come from community colleges in california, and despite what some people are implying on this thread, there is no guarantee that they’ll take you in just because you’re from brown.
so, i’d say , keep your gpa high, and build on yourself as what you’d look like on paper.
