I was accepted and it’s a nice school but I couldn’t see myself living anywhere without a sick beach for more than a year (the 55% male to female ratio is kind of off putting too). My question is: how difficult is it to transfer from cal poly to another school? I know it’s hella hard to change your major so I’m not really sure how long a transfer procedure would take.

It doesn’t make sense to start at a school that you are already thinking of transferring out of. Why not start at a school that has all that you want? I think the male to female ratio will be changing.

looks like the ■■■■■ is at it again.
Move along folks, nothing to see here…

um cal poly is near a beach. i’m confused.

momofmv my gpa is ~ 3.3 and cal poly is the best school I got into.
other guy that’s not a ■■■■■: yeah it has a beach but I’m talking miami or san diego beaches. From what I’ve seen, the beaches in the central coast area are usually pretty foggy or cold and windy most of the time. I’ll reconsider if the beach is legit but I’m not expecting much.

Pismo Beach, located about a 10 minute drive from Cal Poly SLO’s campus is a famous surfing beach. The beaches are great at SLO.

Ah, I’ve never been there myself but it sounds familiar-I’ll probly swing by when I go to the open house. But just for kicks and giggles, how difficult would it be to transfer? Would it be harder than transferring from a college like ucsb? It just seems that the course load is distributed a bit differently here than it is at other colleges.

Maybe this will help you choose a school. Can’t tell you anything about transferring possibilities, but I don’t think most people leave because the surfing wasn’t good enough.

I think Morro Bay has better waves than Pismo. Back in the '90s one of my grown daughters used to go over to Morro to surf when she was in college in Fresno. Can’t tell you how good the waves are, though. But it was better than the Valley! I live in the ORIGINAL Surf City USA (Santa Cruz), so I take it ALL for granted. In fact, I never put my feet in the ocean if I can help it. Good luck!

I’m sort of in a similar situation. After living here for almost an entire school year, I’ve realized that this may not exactly be the right place for me. I mean, it’s a good school with nice people and all, but I feel like it’s in the middle of no where. I need a much bigger city and I’m considering transferring after my second year here at the latest.

As far as how difficult it is to transfer from Cal Poly, well, most schools, unless they’re community colleges, don’t want you to transfer because the more students that return each year, the better it looks for them. Of course, they can’t stop you from transferring, and there is usually not a lot required from them in the transfer process. And I’m sure if you make a valid case for transferring it’ll help.
