I go to CSU Fresno right now as a sophomore Business major (finance option), and frankly I feel I need a change of scenery. There's a lot to love about Fresno; I grew up here and know everything about the city, but I never really wanted to go to college here. I feel like graduating from Cal Poly would look wonders better on my resume, compared to Fresno.

Fresno barely has any campus culture besides the frats and the football games, as well as the constant weekend drinking. The area around the school isn't to great either safety wise. The weather here can be very annoying at times also. Extreme heat to extreme cold. It is a bit too easy, and I'm hoping I can transfer somewhere where it is a might be more challenging. I got a 3.9 GPA my freshman year (damn that 89% in Humanities!), and I took 19 units this semester to try to make things a bit harder, but I would surprised if I got anything besides a 4.0. I don't mean to sound pretentious at all, but the curriculum here is pretty easy.

I wanted to go to Cal Poly originally, but my High School GPA (3.45) wasn't good enough, and I am hoping that I might be able to to transfer there next year. I really love its academics and location. I will have all my GE and prereqs to transfer except a Business Calc class, which CSU Fresno does not offer. However, I passed my AP stats with a 4, which Cal Poly says gives you credit for that class on their AP Credit Sheet, so I am hoping that somehow transfers can use that as credit.

My question is, do I have a shot of getting accepted as a transfer? I've heard it's really hard. I really do not want to end up getting stuck here in Fresno where I feel a bit miserable sometimes.

Also, what other schools in California would it be worth it to apply as a transfer too? (UCs or Private) Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Again, I've heard it is very difficult to transfer from a CSU to a UC, but I'm not too sure if it would be worth it trying to apply.

TL;DR Do i have a shot at Cal Poly with a 3.9 GPA at Fresno State. If not, what other schools would I have a shot at that might be an upgrade academically?
