Transferring from CSU to CCC to UC. Should I take another math class just to be safe?

I took a stats class at my CSU. Now I am going to a CCC. I have talked to both a JC and UC councilor and I have an idea of what will transfer. I took a stats class at my CSU just called Statistics. Is there any chance whatsoever it won't transfer? I want to transfer in a year and I can't if my math class doesn't count. Also, I took General Biology I at my CSU but I saw something on my jc website about General Biology possibly being restricted to some kind of sequence at a UC. Does that mean my science class won't work?

What is your major? and what school do you plan on attending?

There is a chance your statistics class will transfer, but your CC will have to look at the course description to see if it matches their course. I would also call the UC you plan on attending and see if it will transfer. As for the biology course, if it’s restricted to a sequence, that means you have to take both Biology 1 and 2 at their school in order to fulfill the requirement. But again, ask your CC and the UC you plan on attending.

I am majoring in political science and want to transfer to UCSB. I already talked to a UCSB councilor and she said all of my units but one unit should transfer but she is not an evaluator. So should I take another math class just to be safe? And if general biology 1 needs to be in a sequence, will I get any units for it?

You may want to call and ask them directly.

OK, that makes things a bit easier. You shouldn’t worry about the biology sequence, if the class you took is UC transferable. The sequence only refers to those who need 1 year of biology for their major, but since you’re just taking it to fulfill IGETC you should be fine (as long as it is UC transferable). As for statistics, you don’t need that class as a political science major (for UCSB), you just need 1 transferable math course for IGETC. Have you taken college level algebra or any other college level math classes? As long as you have taken 1 UC transferable college level math class, you should be good. Call them and make sure though, having a UC transferable math course completed is very important.

I haven’t taken any other math courses. I know the only way I can really get rejected is if I haven’t finished my math and English. I will definitely have enough units. UCSB said that my statistics class should transfer but nothing is 100% so I’m thinking that I should just take college algebra in the fall just in case, I’m ahead on units anyways. I’m taking 9 in the summer and should have 27 transferable from my CSU.

And on top of that I passed 5 AP tests. I just need to take English and a couple prerequisites and get to 60 units and I am good
