Transferring from CUNY Honors to Top 20/Ivy League??

Hi everyone, I'm in the honors program at a 4-year CUNY, but am not satisfied with the academics/majors or the lack of a community/campus.
Because of the financial benefits of CUNY (it's free for Honors students, also) I need to my transfer to be meaningful - i.e. transfer to a significantly better school. I was thinking about Tufts, Brown, Georgetown, Northwestern, Columbia, or Yale -- all of which generally have what I'm looking for.
I know that admission is even more competitive for transfers than freshmen -- I just want to know if I can (if it is even possible). If those of you who have attempted a similar change can share their experience and qualifications, it would be very helpful.
Thanks!

…anyone?

Hi! I’m also going through a very similar situation as you right now. Although I was accepted to one of the honors programs in a CUNY school and chose to attend another CUNY as a regular student, I am also thinking of transferring. Did you eventually transfer out?

Here is what you should know-- the seats at Ivy-plus schools that are available for transfers is largely tied to attrition. Since attrition is almost non-existent in the top Ivy schools, so are the seats available. By way of example, recently, Harvard had over 1500 applicants and admitted about 15, and Yale had over a 1000 applicants in which about 2 dozen were offered seats. So, while being qualified is certainly a criteria, the other portion must convey why these schools; typical reasons are that these schools offer programs and/or degrees not offered at your existing institution.

Second, that you could have obtained admission as a freshmen applicant. Third, that you have perfect scores at your current institution. Long story short…it is much more difficult to obtain admission as a transfer than as applying for a freshmen seat…

Cornell has the most liberal transfer policy, with an admission rate close to 20%, still very competitive, but much better than the 1-2% admission rate at H and Y.

Hi boolaHI, I am thinking to transfer to Cornell Dyson school as a sophomore. The school’s website lists that that SAT scores are not required. Should I still send them the scores anyways? (under the circumstance that my scores are good - 2100 above)

I would clarify whether it is does not require versus does not accept.

Definitely possible, am at an Ivy and I know of people who have transferred from CUNY honors colleges
