Transferring from Dearborn to Ann Arbor

I'm at the Dearborn campus and I really want to switch to the A2 campus. I don't like it here and feel depressed after telling someone I go the UM-D campus. I only went here to save some money. I can't go to MSU for personal reasons. I'm a sophomore with a 3.3 GPA (I know, a little low) in computer science. Can I even transfer in with my GPA? Even if I don't transfer, I'd be super happy to do a masters degree at the A2 campus.

I’m in the same boat. I went to Dearborn for the money and because it was close to home, but I didn’t get the college vibe. I felt like high school all over again. When do you want to transfer? If for the winter, I would suggest raising your GPA. If you have a low gpa at Dearborn, they might think you would get even lower one at AA. I am trying to maintain a 4.0 for one year and transfer in the FALL 2015, which means I apply before FEB 1 deadline. I would say go for it, but don’t expect too much. When you hit college, your GPA in college matters most and generally they accept transfers with 3.6 +. Can you stay another semester at Dearborn and transfer in the fall? Maybe push up your GPA if possible to at least 3.5. Or you can apply and see how it goes, and if not, apply again! Good luck!

I am in software-engineering at UMD. I finished my freshman year and I am applying to UM AnnArbor’s school of engineering for the winter session. I think you should consider applying to CS in LSA, because CS in engineering school requires you to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in all the prerequisite courses.

@ray7umd I agree. COE is harder to get into
