Transferring from IUPUI Kelley to IU Kelley

Hello everyone,

I have recently decided to transfer to IU due to family complications. I am looking for suggestions concerning course selections that will help maximize my chances of getting into Kelley. The courses I have already taken at the Indianapolis campus include:

ENG-W 131 A
BUS-K 201 A
BUS-X 103 A
PHIL-P 110 A-
BUS-X 100 A+

BUS-X 204 A+
MATH-M 119 A+
ANTH-A 104 A+
BUS-A 100 A+
COMM-R 110 A+

(I am also currently taking M118 during the Summer II term.)

Any suggestions about which courses might be the easiest to take in Bloomington in order to achieve standard admission? I am assuming that any course I will take at IU will be much more difficult than at IUPUI.

It’s kind of hard to tell because the course numbers are different at IUPUI for some classes. I also don’t know a ton about how transferring works. However, I can tell you that the easy courses to get at least a B from that list in are: K303, G202 (take with Steve Kreft), D270 (take with David Harrision), C104. I had AP credit in econ, and haven’t taken C204, L201, E370, A201, or A202 yet, but you can check the grade distributions in the 2nd link. You might have already taken equivalent courses to some of these, so I’d talk to an advisor too. You’ve done awesome so far and I don’t see any reason why you can’t keep it up in Bloomington!

Thank you for your help! How would you compare K303 to K201? I haven’t been using Excel/Access frequently since I completed K201, so I’m afraid I might be a little bit rusty with my Excel skills. Also, I’ve noticed that I only need to complete one semester (12 credit hours) worth of courses before I can apply for standard admission. I’m thinking about taking these courses for a semester:

K201/K303
C104
M118
ECON-E 201
BUS-T 175

Any comments or suggestions? I won’t be on the Bloomington campus until the spring semester, so I’m trying to take the traditionally challenging pre-requisites on the Indianapolis campus first to help improve my chances of a getting a B or higher at IU.

I did take the honors version of K201 and regular K303, but K303 was easier. K303 is Excel only, no Access, and it’s pretty much just an extension of K201.

Those classes are fine - they would all be easy B’s or above if you have finite knowledge except maybe Econ, which is still manageable. But I thought you said you were already in M118, so why retake it? When are you planning on taking I-core? You need all of these classes before you do:

I’m planning on taking I-Core the 2nd semester of my junior year. And you’re correct, I am already taking M118 and E201 at IUPUI. I’m planning to retake both M118 and E201 at IU to essentially maximize my chances of getting into Kelley. I have heard that most I-Core pre-requisites such as E201, K201, M118, M119, and A100 are significantly harder on the Bloomington campus, so I thought that I should prepare myself accordingly.

For the upcoming fall semester at IUPUI, I am planning on taking A201,E201,E270, and L203. All of these courses should transfer according to the Kelley Undergraduate Bulletin for 2015-2016, based on course equivalency. This will ensure that I’ll be able to graduate from IU in no more than 4 and 1/2 years. Again, thank you for all your help and contributions!

You’re welcome. C104 has a fairly large workload, but you should have no trouble getting a B or better in any of those classes if you are retaking finite and E201
