Hi, i currently am awaiting my decision on my application for transferring to OSU from Miami university. I am a freshman at MU, but my first choice was always OSU. I didn't get in, so i came to MU to give it a chance but it just isn't for me. My grades in high school were great, and my college grades are very good as well. If i get accepted, i can't decide if i should transfer after winter or wait until next fall. I wish i could go as soon as possible, my only concern is that OSU is switching from quarters to semesters next year. If i were to switch at winter, instead of getting out in may, i would be in school until june and then return to school in august. I don't know if that's a bad idea. I just know i would truly be much happier at OSU if i transferred, because if i stay at MU i will get sucked into the greek system and end up rushing along with everyone else because that's basically all there is to do here. Any advice would be appreciated, especially with what to expect when transferring at winter quarter. Thanks!

This is also my first (and final) semester at Miami. I’m honestly not all that crazy about it, either.

I feel like unless you want summer work or an extended internship, the month (if that long) you have to wait to get out shouldn’t be that big of a deal. They get out later but they also start later (I believe) so it should balance out. Your classes might be more accelerated too but aside from that, I don’t think the switch from semesters to quarters should be that big of a deal.

Are you sure you’re able to transfer to OSU after just one semester? If OSU is your first choice and you get in and you can afford it/get housing then go for it. You’re “only concern” isn’t that big of one.

HOWEVER, there are more things to do at Miami than Greek Life but it is big here. (But I can’t wait to get the hell out of Oxford, either. The small town thing was cute the first week. Two and a half months later? Not so much.)

Yeah i agree, i am the kind of person who constantly needs things to do. I can’t handle being trapped in the middle of no where. There are other things to do besides go greek, but my only friends i have here are all rushing. It’s just not my thing. Thanks for your advice though!
