Transferring from one Community College to another Community College. I need help!

Hello. I'm currently a community college student. Ok so just recently I decided to stop going to SMC and start going to PCC. I have some debts that need to be filled at SMC due to issues. Right now, I am unable to obtain my official transcripts. SMC won't budge until I pay. Which II understand. Through counselor help, I managed to obtain my UNOFFICIAL transcripts from SMC and get some prerequisites waived at PCC. I was told at some point I have to submit official transcripts to my new school. Now, I already enrolled and payed for new classes at my new college this upcoming fall, yet, I have yet to submit my official transcripts due to the financial issue. Is this unusual? Do you usually submit transcripts before you enroll at your new school? Will I be able to attend my fall classes? Does it matter when transcripts need to be sent? How does transferring from a different college usually work? I need your help. And thank you.

since you have an outstanding debt to SMC, PCC will not be a party to that so will likely stone wall you – you many amble along for maybe one semester – but you need to clear up the SMC debt. PCC may not grant you any credits – you better be sure you’re not wasting funds you should otherwise use to pay down your SMC debt.

The reason the debt occurred was because my BOG was taken away due to issues with the office and paperwork. I wasn’t supposed to receive it apparently. And it was just a low blow because I have to pay back my whole year at SMC. I’m pretty much set at PCC with the exception of submitting official transcripts. I hear obtaining official transcripts when you order them might take a while and PCC starts school soon. So I think I might start school without submitting transcripts quite yet? And like you said, they may let me amble on by with a semester? Hmm I hope so. We’re really trying to save so I can finally have access to my official ones. I’m just hoping PCC accepts them and doesn’t think it’s unusual by the time I submit them, which would probably be a little after the new school year starts. (Because I did enroll and pay into 2 classes at PCC)

Min – I’m saying that before you start PCC, make sure you know your plan with SMC (even though you were screwed over by FinAid). What you don’t want to happen is for you to pay for two classes, finish them – and PCC says: “thnx for the tuition but sorry – you get nothing from us until you clear out that SMC debt.”

Maybe put off PCC now (or get a refund), pay down the SMC debt then start PCC clear with transcripts in hand.

The bigger issue is that any four year school that you will transfer to will eventually require official transcripts from all previous colleges attended.
