Transferring from Queens Cuny to Stony Brook Suny

I just started my 3rd semester in college at Queens Cuny. Before I even started applying to college I wanted to go to law school, but because of my financial situation I was unwilling to go to a "real college" (decent private college). My major is political science, with possible minors in philosophy, english, and history. I plan on going to college for a maximum of 4 years total. Then going on to a top 50 law school. My question is, how much of an better for my eventual law school education is Stony Brook SUNY than Queens CUNY (and possibly Baruch CUNY) ?

I literally had no college guidance counselor in my high school and the city college system is a mess. So I have recieved no help as most of my friends in the same situation are just starting college at Queens college, or have already dropped out.

Stay at Queens and do well. Queens is a better deal financially and almost as highly regarded.

Unless you want to major in one of the sciences, in which case go to SB.

actually it costs 1700 more and stony brook is 99 on the usnews list and I cant even even find queens college on any list

@lebob23: Joan52 means that you should stay at Queens because it is cheaper than a private school and you will save money. You probably should graduate at Queens than go Stony Brook or another private school for graduate law program. But if you are in-state and if you do not need to take loans than transfer to Stony Brook.

I would say apply and see what FA they give you and if it is good, transfer. Hurry up and apply for Spring.
